Lessons Learnt

So we packed up the van, the dog and the kids and decided to test out our free camping skills....here are some lessons learnt!

Lesson #1 
Always check the taps are turned off before turning on the water pump.  We managed to salvage ZERO rolls of toilet paper from the ensuite floor following a flooded basin episode!

Lesson #2
The decision not to take our beloved, boisterous, loveable and naughty labradoodle Max on our 5 month adventure was a sound one to say the least.

Lesson #3
We might not need to purchase a $1000 Waeco fridge/freezer after all.....I managed to fit $200 worth of groceries and drinks into the fridge and pantry.  Our pull along Coleman worked a treat for adult drinks and after three days the ice was still frozen......pls note we might change our minds once we hit warmer weather!

Lesson #4
I think it is fair to say we could have some serious wifi and power withdrawals for a little while - thats all good! but it needs to go on the list.....might cut off the girls access in the lead up to going away to make this easier on everyone lol

Lesson #5
Caravan annexe matting is a godsend. The end.

Lesson #6
Despite the shower in the caravan, we also bought a little solar bag with shower head - hang it on a tree viola - instant kid giggles :)

Lesson #7
Leigh and I got on pretty well!  and managed to find the funny side of things....I sound surprised because in the lead up to the first free camp, Liv changed the name of the van from "Kooka" to "Divorce-a-van 2017".......probably no need to elborate on that one lol

Lesson #8
I need to learn to tow the van, 15,000 km with Leigh driving isn't fair on him (and not fair on me as his #1 car rule is apparently the driver chooses the music.......mmmmm :(

Lessons #9 and #10 - Im going to handover to Leigh on these ones, Im sure he has some "blokey" lesson learnt (ps be kind husband).

It is April Fools Day 2016. We are going to travel Australia in a caravan for 5 months with our two daughters in 12 months time. This is no joke! I am not sure what we are thinking? Some part of me yearns for a simple life where working full time and juggling 5000 different commitments at one time is a distant memory….but part of me is scared shiteless. CUT!! And thats a wrap folks......

5 weeks to go!! This week's dilemma (although not really cause we are going on this trip regardless!) 8 year old super pumped about this adventure and wants to leave tomorrow. 12 year old NOT pumped about this adventure and wants to stay here and live with Nana and Poppy (obviously not happening but I had to listen to her 10 minute powerpoint presentation anyway). Everyone keeps telling her she will LOVE it and how lucky she is, which is making things worse? In her tweenie mind she is missing out on so much by going (leadership team, friends, dancing, singing etc)  but can't see that she will actually gain so much more. Sigh........not sure there is any advice you can give us to be honest but feel free.....otherwise this is just a pre-departure rant!!
